Canwest does not produce newsworthy news, they present opinion shaping reporting designed to further keeping of the herd in line. They do not have truly independent objective reporting, their reporting is slanted and politically one sided, it is also mannered in a way as not to be offensive to advertisers. It is not news per se, more it is a magazine format wherein the real news is secondary at best. Neither deep nor insightful, treading lightly when dealing with all things Israel and using coarser tones and speech when discussing dissenters of any stripe or creed.
In summary they are the exact anti-thesis of what the CBC was and still tries to be. The CBC is probably the last bastion of non influenced apolitical reporting left on this continent.
Canwest has an aggenda and it is driven by rich boys with their fingers on the tools of persuasion, they have the ability to sway public opinion politically and socially in a way that is subversive and non representative of Canadian values and in many ways equates to propaganda of a most unpleasant and foul type. No, this very structure of commercial reporting and obtaining the best news that money can buy is the death knell for freedom, inasmuch as it deprives the people of knowledge and truth and thus creates opinion where none would exist, or if it did it would be in opposition.
A free press and an unrestrained media untainted by agenda is a dream when ideologues with a corrupted outlook run a company, in this Canwest is the casebook example.
